After the third roll the player must place their dice in a category. The player may stop any time before the third roll and place their roll in a category.

Five of a kind placed on its corresponding number from the first 6 categories results in a 20 point bonus.
In the Riverboat Yahtzee variation two additional categories are added and the bonus is different:
Highball: One hundred points in addition to the total of the dice.
Chance: The total of the dice.
When placing a 5 of a kind bonus on a corresponding number the player may choose to take the 20 point bonus or roll 6 dice for the total as the bonus.
At the end of all rounds being played the final scores are read.
