Last Updated July 2023

Riverboat Gambler and it's variation Riverboat Yahtzee are dice games where individual players fill in 10 or 12 categories for high score.

Preparing for the Game:

Players are placed in a roster in alphabetical order by their first name.

Taking a Turn:

The host will roll 5 dice for the first turn. The player will decide what dice they want to keep, if any and roll the remaining dice. A total of 3 rolls may be taken in a turn. After the third roll the player must place their dice in a category. The player may stop any time before the third roll and place their roll in a category.

The categories for Riverboat Gambler are:

1's: total of 1's rolled.
2's: total of 2's rolled.
3's: total of 3's rolled.
4's: total of 4's rolled.
5's: total of 5's rolled.
6's: total of 6's rolled.
Two Pair: 20 points. Must be 2 separate pair, 4 of a kind is not legal.
Full House: 30 points.
Straight: Either a small straight, 4 consecqutive numbers for 40 points or a large straight, 5 consecqutive numbers for 50 points.
Lowball: The total of the dice subtracted from 100. In the case of 5 ones a 5 point bonus is added for a total of 100 for this category.

Five of a kind placed on its corresponding number from the first 6 categories results in a 20 point bonus.

In the Riverboat Yahtzee variation two additional categories are added and the bonus is different:

Highball: One hundred points in addition to the total of the dice.
Chance: The total of the dice.
When placing a 5 of a kind bonus on a corresponding number the player may choose to take the 20 point bonus or roll 6 dice for the total as the bonus.

At the end of all rounds being played the final scores are read.

Notes About the Game:

It is advisable that players keep track of what categories they have played.
It is up to the host's discretion to allow late arriving players to join.
